End of school year is about to come.

Let me just share you my story:

As far as I remember, I am looking for a part-time job last year. I made up a decision to apply as a teacher for one of the vocational courses offered here in our school. I did training of course and got my certificate afterwards but unfortunately I did not achieve the qualification standards and they advise me to undergo another training.

I speak to myself at that moment of rejection “it’s okay, at least I tried and I should have no regrets. God is just preparing me, I should trust HIM because I know something wonderful is about to happen”.

A few days later, they offer me this job to teach Computer Technology for Grade 8 Students in Night School and obviously I was about to decline the job offer because I can’t work 12 hours a day but God’s hands are really working, they offered me a Saturday class, giving up my rest day to teach students is like having a car than a bike and we will all choose the car, right? I chose my students rather than resting because I want to share what I have and be an instrument of God to teach them the best I could. I know this is really a huge responsibility and I’m scared because this is a change in career for me but fear should not be a barrier because I have a huge God that is with me and guiding me in every step of the way.

Reading this note a while ago indeed captured my heart. “A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.”  Sometimes, I paused for a moment and ask myself, if I am a part time teacher, does it mean I am less or I am not good compared to other full-time teachers?

And here goes my answer:

Being a good teacher cannot be measured on what degree you finished, we should teach our students like how Jesus teaches his disciples. Share everything you have to your students, your knowledge, your talents and most especially your heart. Be part of their lives as they also became a part of you. Consume yourself  like a candle consumes itself just to bring us light. Be a light to your students and someday they can also be light to others.

I am not a teacher as you can see in my background, I did not finish any course related to teaching but it is definitely God's grace that I am able to teach and serve students right now because nothing is impossible with God. :))
